The system consists of mattress, urine funnel and collection container.
The opening of the funnel is located at the front edge of the mattress. The flap with velcro fastener on the outer bed cover and the padded lid are opened.
The urine flows into the container under the bed, which is located on a pad.
The container under the bed is easily removable and can be emptied weekly or if necessary.
Up to 8 liters of urine are accumulated weekly.
The standard container holds 10 liters.
The Isiwell mattress has two types of urinals:
Type 1 (urinal funnel); it is the one that can be installed in the centre of the Isiwell mattress for bedridden patients*.
Type 2 The urinal type, on the other hand, is intended for people who are not bedridden, i.e. who can sit; it is the one that can be mounted on the inner front edge of the mattress.
Both types of urinals can be used at the user’s request; it can be opened and closed manually or electronically by itself.
The urine that flows into the urinal in the Isiwell mattress has 3 types of outlets:
1st type: the urine flows through a tube into a urine collection container integrated into the bed and from there into a waterproof and odour-proof disposable ‘plastic bag’ with a capacity of 2 or 4 litres, which is attached under the bed. When the plastic bag is full of urine, the urine-filled “plastic bag” is removed from the tube of the urine collection container for disposal and replaced with a new, empty disposable “plastic bag”.
2nd type: the urine flows directly from the mattress into the drain pipe of the toilet. Namely: the tube of the urine funnel installed in the mattress extends into the waste chute of the toilet. This means that the urine emptied into the mattress flows directly into the toilet drain. In this case, there is no need for a urine collection container under the bed, etc.
3rd type: the urine flows into the urinal in the mattress: the hose of the urinal funnel is connected to the 10-litre drum under the bed. And as the urine container is filled once a week in this case, helpers may be needed to empty the canister.
